The Helensville District Health Trust (the Trust) is a community owned not for profit organisation. It was established in 1989 and has Charitable Trust status. Our Vision is for Helensville 'to be the healthiest rural community in NZ'.
The Trust owns and operates from its strategic health site in Commercial Road in Helensville. This includes the purpose built medical facilities of the Kaipara Medical Centre, The Helensville Birthing Centre, local offices and consulting rooms for Waitemata Health and the adjacent Alison McKenzie Community House. An extensive directory of local health services is provided from these premises.
The Trust is comprised of seven Trustees and three Public Trustees. Public Trustees are advertised for in the Helensville community and elected annually. Trustees volunteer their time, experience and expertise to the community. We are also fortunate to have enjoyed considerable support for our work and projects over the years from our community. This has included fundraising, voluntary work projects and donations to support expansion and ongoing provision of health services to the District. The Trust has an appointed Manager and Assistant Manager working from our local office. The Manager is also responsible for the management of the Helensville Birthing Centre.
The Trust is recognised in NZ as a leading and very successful integrated rural health model. In April 2010, it launched a new initiative opening a satellite health centre in Parakai - Parakai Health.
